The EB-5 Visa program is a sure way for wealthy foreigners to cut the line and obtain a visa for permanent residence upon entry into the United States. “EB” stands for employment based. To qualify, an applicant needs to invest $500,000 to $1,000,000 in a U.S. Business or real estate in a rural or targeted employment area set out by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service(USCIS). EB-5 was initially set up to create jobs in the United States.
While the program does create jobs as intended, wealthy foreigners use this EB-5 program not only to obtain green cards for themselves, their spouse, and their children but also to place their cash in a secure investment outside of their home country which is usually much less secure than the United States. It is no wonder why 80% of EB-5 visa holders are from China, which is ruled by a communist party.
